Welcome, and thanks for visiting. My name is Melissa and my mission is to:
1)Find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and other blood related diseases
2)Train to complete 26.2 miles in San Diego June 5, 2005.
3)Raise $3,900 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!
I wanted to let everyone out there, that I am planning on doing another marathon! Crazy huh? Considering I couldn't walk right for two weeks last time! But what can I say, it's a great feeling raising that money for the leukemia and lymphoma patients. And it feels pretty good to cross the finish line too ;)
Did you know?
-Every 5 minutes, someone in the US learns that they have leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma
-Every 9 minutes, a child or adult dies from a blood related cancer
Some people may wonder, what can I do? I'm just one person. Well, I have joined Team in Training (TNT). TNT is the largest endurance sports training program of its type in the world. They will be training me to complete a marathon, that's 26.2 miles! They provide the coach, training, nutritional advice, and plenty of support.
(Team in Training also trains athletes to run marathons-26.2 miles and bike century rides - 100 miles and complete triathalons!)
Along with that training, I have also committed myself to raising $3,900 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. 76% of this money goes towards research, patient aid, and education about blood related cancers.
Now, knowing all of this, I need to ask for your support - encouraging words and smiles, prayers,and also financial support. $3,900 is a lot of money to raise, and my deadline is coming soon! Any donation you can give, large or small, is greatly appreciated.
